It all began with an idea!

In 2024 the Theme of the International Tuareg Handicrafts Week (SIAT) was “Handicraft, a lever for peace and reconciliation.”

The festival celebrated the richness and diversity of the Tuareg culture with excellence. More than just a cultural event, it was a platform for dialogue and bonding, highlighting the central role of craftsmanship in promoting peace and reconciliation.

Artisans from various walks of life have exhibited their ancestral craftsmanship, highlighting unique creations: silver jewelry, leather goods, textiles and decorative objects. These works are a testimony to a living tradition, bearing hope and a common aspiration for unity and peaceful coexistence.

Making an impact beyond borders: this event strengthened social ties, supported local artisans and encouraged cross-cultural dialogue essential to build a harmonious future.

Semaine Internationale de l’Artisanat Touareg (SIAT) is not just an event, but proof that we still carry this legacy of shared life and shared values with us.

Celebrating Heritage, Creativity and Cultural Exchange

The 3rd edition of SIAT continues its mission to celebrate and promote Tuareg craftsmanship, culture, and heritage while creating a vibrant space for connection, knowledge sharing, and opportunity.

Bringing together artisans, creators, cultural figures, professionals, partners, and participants from within Mali and across the Sahel and beyond. SIAT celebrates the diversity of traditional craftsmanship, artistic expression, music, and the sharing of skills across cultures.

This year, SIAT looks to strengthen its international reach, support the artisans and communities who keep these traditions alive, and open new horizons for Tuareg craftsmanship and cultural heritage.
